Access Control for Oil & Gas Sites in Kuwait

Who it is for: Sites with many contractors and shift crews, camps, yards and terminals with vehicle gates, and control buildings with restricted rooms.

Quick answer

UltraTech Kuwait installs access control for oil and gas sites in Kuwait: turnstiles and card readers at gates, vehicle barriers with number-plate recognition, contractor cards that stop working when their induction expires, and headcount reports for mustering. Readers and controllers sit at gates and buildings, outside classified areas, and are linked to the CCTV so every gate event has video.

What we handle

  • Full-height turnstiles at personnel gates, with anti-passback so one card cannot let two people in
  • Contractor cards with an end date tied to HSE induction or the contract
  • Vehicle gates with barriers and number-plate recognition (ANPR)
  • Muster readers at assembly points, and a report of who is still inside
  • Restricted rooms in control and telecom buildings: card plus PIN or biometrics
  • Visitor registration with temporary cards

Mustering: what makes the headcount true

  • The report is only as good as the gate: anti-passback and full-height turnstiles stop one card letting two people in.
  • Readers at the muster points let people check in during an alarm; the list of who has not checked in goes to the emergency team.
  • Controllers and the server need backup power, so the list survives a power cut.
  • Doors on escape routes release when the fire alarm triggers.

Problems we fix most often in Kuwait

The headcount does not match who is on site.

Usual cause
Tailgating at swing gates, no anti-passback, and cards not presented on the way out.
What fixes it
Full-height turnstiles, anti-passback, and exit readers at every gate.

Contractors keep access after their job or induction ends.

Usual cause
Cards issued without an end date, and nobody updating them when the contract changes.
What fixes it
Every contractor card gets an end date, and expiry blocks it automatically.

Gate readers fail in summer.

Usual cause
Readers and controller boxes left in full sun.
What fixes it
Outdoor-rated readers (IP65 or better) under a canopy, and controllers in the guard house or a shaded, ventilated cabinet.

How a project starts

Quotation

Send the drawings, the site list or a bill of quantities, and we come back with questions or a quotation. Quote requests are reviewed by a person and answered within 4-8 working hours.

Site visit

Business site visits: Site visits are free in most areas of Kuwait. Distant areas have a location-based fee; select your area to see the exact fee before booking. Any paid visit fee is deducted from your final invoice if you go ahead with us. Delivery and installation start within 2–3 days after the 50% advance is cleared. Project completion time depends on the scope and requirements.

Book a site visit

Maintenance contract

A fixed monthly fee covering remote support, scheduled visits and call-outs; parts are quoted for approval. Maintenance contract clients get a same-day response to critical faults; regular visits run 09:00–18:00, with critical faults only outside those hours.

About maintenance contracts

Have this ready before you contact us

  1. The number of gates (people and vehicles) and doors
  2. How many employees and contractors use the site, and the shift pattern
  3. Where the muster points are
  4. The cards or system already in use, if any

Questions about this service

Can the system block a contractor whose induction has expired?

Yes. Each card carries a validity date set from the induction or contract record; on that date it stops opening gates, and the guard sees why.

How does mustering work?

When the alarm sounds, people check in with their cards at the muster points. The software lists everyone who entered and has not checked in, which is the list the emergency team needs.

Do readers go inside the process area?

Usually not. Readers sit at gates and buildings, outside classified areas. Where a door inside a zone needs control, the reader must be certified for that zone.

Can the access system record contractor hours?

Yes. Gate in and out times per person give the hours per contractor company, which helps when checking timesheets.
