What we install on oil and gas sites

Hazardous areas: what changes
- Every area of a plant is classified (Zone 0, 1 or 2 for gas). Equipment inside a zone must carry an ATEX or IECEx marking that matches the zone, the gas group and the temperature class.
- Cable entries into flameproof (Ex d) enclosures use certified glands, with barrier glands where the cable type needs them. Tape or heat-shrink to make a cable fit a gland is not allowed (IEC 60079-14).
- Switches, recorders and power supplies stay outside the zone, in the control or telecom building, wherever the layout allows. That is cheaper and far easier to maintain.
- Work inside a classified area runs under the site's permit-to-work, and the installation is inspected before it is powered.

- Our engineers have 10+ years of experience, including earlier work on KOC, KNPC, SLB, Halliburton and Baker Hughes sites for previous employers and contractors, before UltraTech existed. Those were not UltraTech contracts, and we do not present them as our clients.
- On an operator's site, gate passes, HSE induction and permits come first. Before we quote, we confirm whether we can work directly or through the main contractor.
Problems we see most on Kuwait sites
Outdoor equipment fails every summer.
- Usual cause
- Air above 50 °C in July and August plus direct sun pushes cabinets and cameras past their rated temperature, and dust clogs the fans.
- What fixes it
- Equipment rated to at least 60 °C, sunshields, shaded cabinets with filtered ventilation or cooling, and switches kept inside buildings where the layout allows.
A problem on the office network reaches the control system.
- Usual cause
- Office PCs, contractor laptops and control equipment share one flat network, or one PC is connected to both.
- What fixes it
- Separate zones with a firewall between them, deny-by-default rules, and a jump host for vendor access.
Links between buildings drop in storms.
- Usual cause
- Copper runs between buildings carry surges and earth differences; unprotected radio links fade in dust.
- What fixes it
- Fiber between buildings, all-dielectric cable where it runs near power lines, and radio only as a backup path.

Do you install equipment inside hazardous areas?
Yes, with equipment certified for the zone (ATEX or IECEx) and under the site's permit-to-work. Where the layout allows, recorders, switches and power supplies stay outside the zone and only cameras or field devices go into it.
Can you work on KOC or KNPC sites?
Work on an operator's site needs that operator's contractor approval, gate passes, HSE induction and permits. Tell us who the main contractor is and what the site requires; we confirm whether we can take the work directly or as a subcontractor before we quote.
Which brands do you use?
We work to the specification. Where the operator has an approved vendor list, that list decides the brand; otherwise we propose models we can supply and support in Kuwait.
Do you maintain the systems after handover?
Yes. A maintenance contract covers scheduled visits, remote support and call-outs for a fixed monthly fee, and parts are quoted for your approval.
