New Villa in Sabah Al-Ahmad: Wi-Fi, Cameras and Intercom Planned Before Plaster

A newly built villa in Sabah Al-Ahmad, cabled by the owner's electricians to our network plan while the house was still under construction, then fitted by UltraTech with whole-house Wi-Fi 6, outdoor cameras and a two-door video intercom on one network.

The job in short

UltraTech Kuwait delivered the Wi-Fi, CCTV and video intercom for a newly built villa in Sabah Al-Ahmad, Kuwait, starting while the house was still under construction. It quoted within two days, gave the owner's electricians floor plans marking every network point, and checked their cabling on several site visits over two months before plaster. After the cabling, UltraTech helped the owner choose a fiber provider, activated the fiber line and installed 14 Ruijie Reyee Wi-Fi 6 ceiling access points, a 28-port PoE+ switch in a ground-floor cabinet next to the fiber entry, 5 Uniview 5MP full-colour outdoor cameras on an 8-channel NVR, and Akuvox video door stations at both doors with 6 indoor monitors.

The problem

The owner of a new villa in Sabah Al-Ahmad called us while the house was still being built. At the first visit, an initial assessment, he walked us through the whole house and listed everything he wanted: strong Wi-Fi in every room, cameras around the house and a video intercom at the entrance. Construction had two to three months left.

The timing was the challenge. The cables had to go into the walls and ceilings before plaster, and the cabling was being done by the owner's own electricians and contractors, not by us. A point in the wrong place or a missed cable run would only show once the walls were closed.

The first plan also had an intercom at one door, while the villa has two entrance doors.

What we did

We sent a quotation for his specific requirements within two days, and the owner approved it.

Instead of waiting for construction to finish, we worked with his contractors from that point. We prepared floor plans marking every network point: each ceiling access point, each camera, the door stations and the indoor monitors, and told the electricians exactly where each cable had to run and end. Over the next two months we visited the site several times to check the points against the plan, make sure the work was done properly, and fix problems the contractors had caused before the plaster covered them.

We also helped the owner choose. Instead of one intercom at one door, we recommended a central system with a video station at both doors, answered from monitors inside the house, and he went with it.

Once the cabling was finished, our installation began. We first helped the owner pick the fiber internet provider with the best route for online gaming and had the fiber box activated. The network cabinet was mounted on the ground floor, next to where the incoming fiber box is, so the internet line, the switch and the camera recorder are all in one place.

What we installed:

  • Wi-Fi: 14 Ruijie Reyee Wi-Fi 6 ceiling access points on one cloud-managed network, with one Wi-Fi name across the whole villa
  • Network: a 28-port gigabit PoE+ switch that powers the access points and cameras over the network cable, in a 6U wall cabinet with power distribution, and a gigabit router on the fiber line
  • Cameras: 5 Uniview 5MP outdoor cameras with full-colour night video, recording to an 8-channel AI network video recorder with a 10TB surveillance drive
  • Intercom: Akuvox 3-button video door stations at both doors and 6 indoor 7-inch monitors
  • Cat6 wall network points for the devices that need a cable

The project team: Eng. M. Ahmed led the project, with Zayan K. and Omar A. on site and Medhat M. working with the owner on the requirements and the quotation.

The result

The owner moved into a finished villa with every system in place: Wi-Fi 6 on all floors as one network, cameras covering the outside of the house and recording to one recorder, and visitors at either door answered from the monitors inside.

Because the points were planned and checked while the walls were still open, each device sits where the plan put it. And instead of one intercom at one door, the owner has one central system for both doors.

Everything runs from one cabinet on the ground floor beside the fiber line, which keeps future additions and support simple.

Equipment used on this job

What we installed, how many, and what each device does here.

  • 14×Ruijie Reyee Wi-Fi 6 ceiling access points — One cloud-managed network with one Wi-Fi name across the whole villa; every point marked on the floor plans before plaster.
  • 1×28-port gigabit PoE+ switch — Powers the access points and cameras over the network cable.
  • 1×6U wall cabinet with power distribution — On the ground floor next to the incoming fiber box: internet line, switch and recorder in one place.
  • 1×Gigabit router on the fiber line — On the provider chosen for the best online-gaming route.
  • 5×Uniview 5MP outdoor cameras with full-colour night video — Around the outside of the villa.
  • 1×8-channel AI network video recorder with a 10TB surveillance drive — Records all cameras in the network cabinet.
  • 2×Akuvox 3-button video door stations — One at each door, answered from monitors inside the house.
  • 6×Akuvox 7-inch indoor monitors — Answer either door and open it from inside.
  • Cat6 wall network points — For the devices that need a cable.

What other owners can learn from this job

  1. 1Call the network installer while the walls are open: a missed or misplaced cable only shows once the plaster is on.
  2. 2Your electricians can lay the cable if they work from a floor plan that marks every point, and someone checks it before plaster.
  3. 3A villa with two entrance doors needs a door station at each, on one central system answered from the monitors inside.
  4. 4Put the network cabinet where the fiber line comes in, so the internet, switch and camera recorder sit in one place.
