Al-Masayel Villa: Wi-Fi 6 Wall Access Points and a Home Phone Intercom Brought Back to Life
A villa in Al-Masayel got eight Ruijie Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access points on one cloud-managed network. Along the way we replaced a faulty, discontinued door station on the house's Grandstream phone system, and later traced a doorbell fault to a weak cable from the switch's own diagnostics.
The job in short
UltraTech Kuwait installed whole-house Wi-Fi and restored the home phone intercom in a villa in Al-Masayel, Kuwait. The owner compared the quotation with UniFi, whose in-wall Wi-Fi 7 model was not available in Kuwait at the time, and chose Ruijie: 8 Ruijie Reyee RG-RAP1260 Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access points on a 26-port cloud-managed PoE switch with seamless roaming. The house's existing Grandstream UCM phone system had a faulty, discontinued door station, which UltraTech replaced with a Grandstream GDS3725 video door station on two PoE switches. When the doorbell later failed, UltraTech found a weak cable remotely from the switch's cable diagnostics and replaced the run with new Cat6 23AWG cable.

Before and after
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| Wanted UniFi Wi-Fi 7 in-wall, not available in Kuwait | 8 Ruijie Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access points, one network |
| Old door station faulty and no longer made | Grandstream GDS3725 ringing the house phones through the existing UCM |
| Doorbell and room-to-room calls stopped | Weak cable found remotely, replaced; all calls working |
The problem
We surveyed the villa in Al-Masayel and sent a quotation for Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access points the next day. The owner asked for a second quotation with UniFi to compare. The UniFi in-wall Wi-Fi 7 model he wanted was not available in Kuwait at the time and would have had to be imported, so he chose the Ruijie system and added an eighth access point.
The house also had its own Grandstream phone system: a UCM IP PBX with phones in the rooms and a video door station at the entrance. When we came to connect it, the door station turned out to be faulty, and that model was no longer made.
Two weeks after the work, the doorbell stopped ringing and calls between the rooms stopped working.
What we did
Wi-Fi: we installed 8 Ruijie Reyee RG-RAP1260 Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access points on a 26-port Ruijie Reyee cloud-managed PoE switch, with one Wi-Fi name, seamless roaming between rooms, firmware updates and testing, and the network in the owner's Ruijie app.
Door station: we sent the owner a newer replacement and, when he asked for more than one option, several to choose from. He picked the larger model, a Grandstream GDS3725 video door station. We installed it with two 6-port PoE switches and reconfigured it into his existing Grandstream UCM, so it rings the house phones as before.
The doorbell fault: the owner shared his Ruijie network with us, and we checked it remotely. The switch's cable diagnostics showed a weak cable on the door station's line. We visited, replaced that run with new Cat6 23AWG cable of about 20 to 25 metres, and checked the whole phone and intercom system, including calls between the rooms.
The result
The villa has Wi-Fi 6 in every room on one network that the owner manages from his phone.
The house phone system works again with a new video door station, ringing the room phones like before.
The doorbell fault was found from the switch's diagnostics before the visit, so the visit went straight to the one cable that needed replacing, and everything was resolved.
Equipment used on this job
What we installed, how many, and what each device does here.
- 1×26-port Ruijie Reyee cloud-managed PoE switch — Its cable diagnostics found the weak cable on the door-station line remotely, before anyone visited.
- 2×6-port PoE switches — Power and connect the new door station.
- Cat6 23AWG cable, about 20 to 25 metres — Replaced the weak run to the door station.

What other owners can learn from this job
- 1Ask whether a model is actually available in Kuwait before you wait for it; an import can take weeks.
- 2A managed switch with cable diagnostics can find a faulty cable remotely, so the visit goes straight to the fix.
- 3An existing Grandstream UCM phone system can be kept: a new door station can be set to ring the same phones.
