TP-Link TL-SM331T 1000BASE-T RJ45 SFP Module

Many switches and routers have SFP slots meant for fibre, and sometimes the device you need to connect only has an Ethernet port. The TL-SM331T fills that gap: it slides into a gigabit SFP slot and provides a standard RJ45 socket running 1000BASE-T over Cat5e or better cable, up to 100 m.

Typical uses are adding an extra copper uplink to a switch whose RJ45 ports are all taken, connecting an ISP router to a firewall or switch that has spare SFP slots, or using the SFP port of a camera switch for a local NVR. The module is hot-pluggable, so it can be inserted or removed without powering down the switch, and it supports TX disable.

It runs at 1.25 Gbps line rate (1 Gbps data), complies with IEEE 802.3, has a full metal body for low interference, and draws about 0.5 W (0.8 W maximum) from the slot's 3.3 V supply. Operating range is 0 to 70 °C. It is a gigabit module, so it does not work in 10G-only SFP+ ports that cannot fall back to 1G.
