About the TP-Link MC210CS
The MC210CS is the gigabit version of TP-Link's single-mode media converter. It joins a 10/100/1000 copper port to 1000Base-LX single-mode fibre at 1310 nm for up to 20 km, enough to link two buildings on a campus, a warehouse to the office, or a villa annex and the main house through buried fibre, at full gigabit speed.
Gigabit matters when the far end hosts several cameras, a Wi-Fi access point or a small office: a 100 Mbps link would be the bottleneck. Used in pairs, the converters are invisible to the network, and the fibre itself does not carry electrical surges between buildings, protecting the equipment at both ends.
It complies with IEEE 802.3ab and 802.3z, auto-negotiates on the copper side with auto MDI/MDIX, supports flow control, and shows power and link status by LED. Power draw is only 1.8 W from an external adapter. The unit measures 94.5 x 73 x 27 mm and is rated for 0 to 50 °C.
