About the TP-Link TL-SG1024D

The TL-SG1024D is unusual in fitting 24 gigabit ports into a short 294 mm chassis, about two-thirds the width of a normal rack switch. That makes it a good fit for shallow wall cabinets, a reception desk or a small comms room, while the included brackets still let it go into a 19-inch rack.

All 24 ports switch at full speed together: 48 Gbps and 35.7 million packets a second, with an 8,000-entry MAC table. It is unmanaged, but it adds two practical protections. Isolation mode separates ports 1 to 22 from each other, keeping guest or tenant devices apart, while ports 23 and 24 stay open as uplinks; loop prevention watches all 24 ports for a cable plugged back into the switch.

The power supply is internal and the switch is fanless, drawing at most 13.6 W, so it runs silently in an office. Jumbo frames up to 10 KB are supported, and it is rated for 0 to 40 °C. For a full-width rack model, see the TL-SG1024.
