Linksys 5-Port Business Desktop Gigabit Switch (LGS105)

The LGS105 adds four gigabit connections wherever one network cable arrives, for example a desk with a PC, an IP phone and a printer, a meeting-room screen, or a small shop counter. It is unmanaged, so there is no setup: plug in the uplink and the devices, and every port negotiates its own speed up to 1 Gbps. Switching is non-blocking at 10 Gbps.

Priority tags (802.1p and DSCP) from phones and video devices are honoured, so a call stays clear while a file copies. Power saving is built in: ports with nothing connected power down, short cables use less power, and Energy Efficient Ethernet idles quiet links. A switch on the unit turns the status LEDs off, useful in bedrooms, hotel rooms or dark AV racks.

The metal case measures 120 x 88 x 26 mm and weighs 252 g, and it can be wall-mounted. It has no fan, runs from a small external adapter at 0.42 W idle and about 2 W at full traffic, and is rated for 0 to 50 °C.
