Linksys 24 Port Business Desktop Gigabit Switch (LGS124)

The LGS124 is a rack switch for an office or building that just needs 24 working gigabit ports behind a patch panel, without VLANs or a management login. Its 48 Gbps non-blocking fabric lets all 24 ports run at full speed at once, and the 8,000-entry MAC table copes with a floor of PCs, phones, printers and access points.

The power supply is built in, so the cabinet takes just a standard power cord, and the switch has no fan: a real advantage in a small wall cabinet in an office or a villa, where fan noise carries. It uses 3.6 W at idle and 11.9 W with every port busy, powers down unused ports and supports Energy Efficient Ethernet. An LED switch can turn the port lights off.

QoS honours 802.1p and DSCP priority, so phones and video calls go first. The 1U metal chassis is 440 x 201 x 44 mm, weighs 2.29 kg, mounts in a 19-inch rack, and is rated for 0 to 50 °C. It has no PoE; the LGS124P is the PoE+ version.
