About the Linksys LGS124P

The LGS124P is the rack-mount PoE+ version of the LGS124. Half of its 24 gigabit ports supply power: ports 1 to 6 on the top row and 13 to 18 below, so powered devices and ordinary devices can be patched side by side. Its 120 W budget runs, for example, four Wi-Fi access points and six IP phones, or eight to ten IP cameras.

It is unmanaged and plug and play, with 802.1p and DSCP QoS so voice and video take priority. All 24 ports switch at full gigabit speed together, 48 Gbps in total, and LEDs show link, speed, activity and PoE per port.

The power supply is internal, and unlike the desktop PoE models it has one cooling fan to handle the PoE heat in a rack. The 1U metal chassis is 440 x 201 x 44 mm and weighs 2.76 kg. The switch itself draws 8.7 W at idle and 19.3 W at full traffic, before PoE loads. For VLANs, a larger 410 W budget or 10G uplinks, the managed LGS328MPC is the step up.
