Linksys 8+8 Port Business PoE Gigabit Switch (LGS116P)

The LGS116P splits its 16 gigabit ports into two halves: ports 1 to 8 deliver PoE+ (802.3at, also 802.3af devices), and ports 9 to 16 are plain data ports for PCs, printers and the uplink. The 80 W PoE budget is enough for, say, two Wi-Fi access points and four IP phones, or five or six IP cameras, without a socket or adapter at any of them.

Switching is non-blocking at 32 Gbps. It is unmanaged, so devices work the moment they are plugged in, while 802.1p and DSCP priority keeps calls and video smooth. LEDs show link, speed, activity and PoE on each port, and a sleep mode saves power on idle ports.

The switch is a slim metal desktop unit, 288 x 132 x 26 mm and 902 g, that can also mount on a wall, which suits a small office, a shop or a home network cabinet. It has no fan and runs from an external adapter; the switch itself draws 5.2 W at idle and 13.4 W at full traffic, plus whatever the PoE devices use.
