About the Linksys LGS108

Eight gigabit ports make the LGS108 the usual answer for a small office room or a home office: a few computers, a NAS, a printer, an access point uplink and a TV box all on one quiet switch. All eight ports run at full gigabit speed together, 16 Gbps in total, and the 4,000-entry address table is more than a room of devices needs.

Like the rest of Linksys's unmanaged business range it needs no configuration, recognises 802.1p and DSCP priority for voice and video, and saves power on its own by powering down empty ports and using Energy Efficient Ethernet on idle links. An LED switch turns the port lights off when they would be a distraction.

The metal housing is 168 x 90 x 26 mm and 358 g, and it can hang on a wall. There is no fan; power comes from an external adapter, and the switch uses about 1 W idle and 3.4 W with all ports busy.
