Hardware is identical — same CPU, RAM, ports, and throughput. MAX adds a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD in place of the 10.6 GB onboard storage on BASE, useful for storage-heavy packages, extended log retention, and reporting.
Do I need the MAX tier, or is BASE enough?
If you plan to run Suricata/Snort with full rule sets, pfBlockerNG with large lists, or want extended NetFlow/reporting history, choose MAX. For straightforward firewall/VPN/routing duty, the BASE tier delivers identical performance at a lower price.
Can the BASE unit be upgraded to MAX storage later?
