Yes — with 2.2 Gbps L3 routing and 964 Mbps firewall throughput it handles gigabit lines with inspection enabled. For heavy IPsec VPN on gigabit links (254 Mbps IPsec ceiling), we recommend stepping up to the Netgate 4200.
What is the difference between the 2100 BASE and MAX?
Hardware is identical; storage differs. BASE has 10.6 GB onboard, MAX adds a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD — useful for packages, long log retention, and reporting. The BASE can be upgraded later via its M.2 slot.
Can it connect directly to a fiber line?
Yes. The dedicated WAN port is an RJ45/SFP combo, so with a compatible SFP module it terminates fiber directly — no media converter needed.
How is it different from the Netgate 1100?
