What to tell your fit-out contractor

Agree these early so the network is not an afterthought.

Positions

  • Desk, printer and screen points on the drawings
  • Ceiling points for access points and cameras
  • Floor boxes under open-plan desks

Rack room

  • A ventilated space, not a closed store
  • Dedicated power and earthing
  • Cable route from every area

Programme

  • When ceilings close
  • When painting finishes
  • Network live date before move-in

When does cabling happen in a fit-out?

Cabling follows the fit-out programme; late cabling means surface trunking.

What people ask before they hire

How much does office fit-out cabling cost in Kuwait?

About 14–22 KWD per Cat6 point in a fit-out, plus 25–60 KWD per floor box. A 300–600 m² office with 40–100 points and a rack usually costs 900–2,500 KWD.

When should we bring you in?

At design stage, before partitions and ceilings: point positions and routes are much cheaper to plan than to change.

Can you work with our fit-out contractor?

Yes. We agree routes, rack position and programme with them, and work alongside their trades.

Will the network be ready on move-in day?

Yes, if we start with the fit-out: cabling, rack, switches and Wi-Fi are tested before you move in.

How do we keep fit-out cabling on schedule?

Mark every point on the fit-out drawings at design stage, install containment and back boxes while ceilings are open, and pull cable after painting. We work to the fit-out contractor's programme.

How much is a site visit?

20 KWD, deducted from your invoice when you go ahead.

What goes wrong in office fit-outs

The usual cause is the network being planned last.

  1. 01Points planned after partitions are built

Our fix: Surface trunking everywhere. We mark points on the layout first.

  2. 02Rack in a cupboard with no air

Our fix: Equipment overheats in summer. We agree a ventilated rack position early.

  3. 03No points for access points or screens

Our fix: Wi-Fi and meeting rooms end up with extenders. We plan ceiling and AV points.

  4. 04Network ordered after move-in

Our fix: Staff arrive to no network. We plan for live on day one.
