Cable testing & certification
UltraTech Kuwait tests and certifies network cabling in Kuwait, checking every point against its Cat6 or Cat6A category and delivering a report with the result for each outlet. It is used at handover of new installations, for consultant approvals and to find faults in existing cabling.

How much does cable testing and certification cost in Kuwait?
Typical Kuwait prices in 2026, equipment and installation included. Your exact price is fixed in writing after the site visit (20 KWD, deducted from your invoice when you go ahead).
| Certification per copper point (Cat6 / Cat6A), with report | 2 – 5 KWD |
| Fiber test per core (loss / OTDR) | 5 – 15 KWD |
| Minimum call-out for small jobs | 60 – 120 KWD |
| Fault finding on existing cabling, per visit | 60 – 150 KWD |
What moves the price
- Number of points or cores
- Copper, fiber or both
- Report format required
- Access to both ends
Basic test or full certification?
Both tell you something. Only certification proves the cabling meets its category.
| Need | Test | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Is the point connected correctly? | Basic wiremap / continuity | Pass/fail per point |
| Will it carry the speed it should? | Qualification test | Speed capability per point |
| Handover, warranty or tender | Full certification | Per-point report to the standard |
| Fiber backbone | Loss test / OTDR | Loss and fault location per core |
Permanent link or channel: what gets certified?
The standards certify the fixed cabling; the channel is what the network then uses.
| Model | What it includes | Length | When it is tested |
|---|---|---|---|
| Permanent link | Patch panel to wall outlet, the fixed cabling only | Up to 90 m | Certification of new installations |
| Channel | Permanent link plus patch cords at both ends | Up to 100 m | Troubleshooting a live connection |
| Fiber loss (Tier 1) | Total light loss of each fiber core | Per link | Every fiber at handover |
| OTDR (Tier 2) | A trace showing where loss occurs along the fiber | Per link | Long links and fault finding |
What people ask before they hire
How much does cable certification cost in Kuwait?
About 2–5 KWD per copper point with a per-point report, and 5–15 KWD per fiber core. Small jobs have a minimum call-out of 60–120 KWD.
What is the difference between testing and certification?
A basic test checks the wires are connected. Certification measures loss, crosstalk and length against the Cat6 or Cat6A standard and proves each point meets it.
Can you test cabling another company installed?
Yes. We test it, report what passes and fails, and can fix the failures.
Do tenders and consultants in Kuwait ask for certification?
Often, yes. Most consultants and manufacturer warranties require a certification report per point.
Should cabling be certified as a permanent link or a channel?
New installations are certified as permanent links, the fixed cabling up to 90 m, because the standards set the tightest limits there. Channel tests, including patch cords, are used to troubleshoot live connections.
How much is a site visit?

What certification usually finds
Most failures come from installation, not the cable.
01Untwisted pairs at the outlet
Our fix: Crosstalk fails. We re-terminate the point to the standard.
02Links longer than allowed
Our fix: Loss fails or speed drops. We reroute or move the panel.
03Crushed cable under ceiling tiles or doors
Our fix: Intermittent faults. We locate the damage and replace the run.
04Mixed categories in one link
Our fix: The link performs at the lowest category. We replace the weak part.
What do you get at handover?
Per-point report
Every point with its result and measurements.
Pass/fail summary
Totals and the list of failures.
Fault list
What failed and why, point by point.
Fix quote
A fixed price for the failures, if any.
Labelled results
Matched to your outlet labels.
One contact
The engineer who tested it stays your point of contact.
What does a certification report contain?
One page per point, plus a summary. This is what consultants and manufacturers ask to see.
| Document | What it is for | When |
|---|---|---|
| Summary | Points tested, passed and failed | First page |
| Wiremap | Every pair connected correctly, no splits or crosses | Per point |
| Length and delay | Link length and signal delay against the limit | Per point |
| Insertion loss | How much signal the link loses at each frequency | Per point |
| NEXT and return loss | Crosstalk and reflections against the limit | Per point |
| Margin | How far each result is from failing | Per point |
| Test settings | Standard, cable type and tester used | Per point |

- Step 4
Fix (optional)
Failures re-terminated or replaced and re-tested.

Cat6 to 250 MHz, Cat6A to 500 MHz, permanent link or channel.
Measurements
Wiremap, length, insertion loss, NEXT, return loss and more.
Fiber
Tier 1 loss tests; OTDR for fault location.
Report
Per point, pass/fail, exported as PDF.
Which equipment do we install?
Certification terms, explained
- Permanent link
- The fixed cable from patch panel to wall outlet, up to 90 m; the part certification tests.
- Channel
- The full path the network uses, up to 100 m, including patch cords at both ends.
- Insertion loss
- Signal lost along the cable; too much means a failed link.
- NEXT
- Near-end crosstalk: signal leaking between pairs, usually from poor termination.
- Return loss
- Signal reflected back, caused by kinks, bad connectors or mixed parts.
- Margin (headroom)
- How far a passing result is from the limit; bigger is better.
- Wiremap
- A check that every wire lands on the right pin at both ends.
